The Japanese language utilizes three different script systems: Kanji(漢字), Hiragana(ひらがな), and Katakana(カタカナ). Hiragana, having been simplified over a long history, derived from Kanji. On the other hand, Katakana is frequently used to represent words originating outside of Japan.
When transcribed into the alphabet (ローマ字: Romanized), these Hiragana and Katakana become combinations of consonants and vowels.
Traditionally, Japanese text starts from the upper right and is written vertically, proceeding horizontally to the left. However, in modern times, it’s become increasingly common for writings, such as novels aimed at young people, to follow the Western style and be written horizontally.
